Yoga asTherapy 200 Hour Teacher Training

The Art of Yin and Yang

23 July - 04 August

(First and Last days are Arrival and Departure Days)

About the course

Join us at ISFYT, where embodiment comes to life through yoga as therapy.

ISFYT's signature 200hr programme is Functional Yoga as Therapy - the only functional teacher training catering for yoga teachers in both yin and yang yoga. In 2024, a hybrid opportunity is provided so that trainees can benefit from in-person immersion, and a longer online trainer for practice and support.

The Art of Yang takes place in Tuscany at The Transmission School between July 23 and August 4. It is a 100hr training and forms the second half of Functional Yoga as Therapy.

The Art of Yin is the first 100hr training. It is taught online on Zoom between May and August.

GRACE TEMPANY

Grace is a Senior Teacher and Mentor, specialised in yin, functional yoga, trauma-informed somatic practices, and yoga as therapy. Based in Ireland, but catering to an extensive yin community online since 2020, and often travelling to facilitate retreats and trainings, Grace is one of the figure heads in the yin community in Europe.

Grace is currently halfway through psychotherapy training, and she brings a lens which is inherently person-centred to her embodiment work. Her training experiences and immersions are pedagogically grounded in her extensive experience as a secondary school teacher. She marries pedagogical expertise, lived and felt experience as knowledge, and the most up-to-date research from the yoga, education, and therapy worlds.

Since she started teaching yoga in 2013, she has dedicated her practice, research and teaching to providing the most accessible space for everybody to practise being in their bodies, and learn to gain a deeper connection with themselves, their truth, their voice and their own unique and personal journey.

About the Venue

A former Franciscan monastery in the heart of Tuscany dates back to the 1500's. In modern times for the past 35 years it has been a peace-based foundation and an ecological & spiritual community. Podere Fiorli is a welcoming Tuscan farmhouse with its olive grove, vineyard, expansive fields and its very own vegetable garden.

"Yoga is a threshold practice; it lies in the space between worlds, breaths, words. Experiencing the practice in our physical body as it merges with the energetic and the psycho-emotional; dwelling on the edges of the worlds of movement & stillness, functional anatomy & self-inquiry, embodiment & psychotherapy: the practices that help you reconnect with your unique body, and the language of the unconscious. Interwoven through it all, is the privilege of holding the seat of the teacher. It’s functional yoga meets yoga philosophy meets yoga psychology meets yoga therapy meets person-centred teaching meets the art of creating and holding sacred space"
